National Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children's Dental Health Month (NCDHM)

About

What is National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM)?

Observed every February, NCDHM reminds families that children should adopt good oral health habits early. This improves the chance of children having healthy teeth and gums throughout their life.

Oral health is a window to our overall health. NCDHM is a perfect time for parents and caregivers to make sure their children brush up on their dental care habits!

At-Home Care is Not Enough!

Although preventable, tooth decay is the most common childhood disease.1 Brushing twice a day and flossing daily are important but not enough. Children should visit the dentist two times a year. There are issues only a dentist or hygienist can identify. It’s important to find these issues before they become a problem. Starting dental visits at an early age will also allow your child to become comfortable with the dentist.

Two dental visits per year visits are covered in children’s Medi-Cal dental plans!

If you schedule your child’s first dental check-up in February, their second appointment will fall just-in-time before back-to-school in August!
